Maxcimillion Alexander is a Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. Alexander joined Canyon in 2019 and primarily focuses on Canyon’s real estate strategies as a product specialist for fundraising mandates. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Alexander worked at Brightwood Capital Advisors, LLC, a middle market direct lender, where he focused on marketing and investor relations. Mr. Alexander began his career at Lazard as an Investment Banking Analyst, where he covered real estate, private equity, and private credit fundraising mandates. Mr. Alexander is a Milken Young Leaders Circle member and an Affinity Group Member at the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). Mr. Alexander is a graduate of New York University (B.A., Behavioral Economics, University Honors Scholar).

Davide Amico is an Investment Partner at Canyon. Mr. Amico joined Canyon in 2011 and oversees a team that primarily focuses on European credit and distressed investment opportunities. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Amico worked at Goldman Sachs within the European Special Situations Group. Mr. Amico is a graduate of Bocconi University (B.S., Economics and Finance, 110/110 cum laude).

Doug Anderson is a Partner and Canyon’s Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Anderson joined Canyon in 2005 and is responsible for monitoring compliance with the federal and state securities laws as well as client mandates. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Anderson was a senior Securities Compliance Examiner with the Pacific Regional Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for over five years. Mr. Anderson was responsible for conducting compliance examinations (routine and cause) of various investment advisers and investment companies. Mr. Anderson is a graduate of the University of California, Davis (B.A., Economics and Communications) and Vermont Law School (J.D.).

Allen Azran is Senior Vice President and Director of Security at Canyon. Mr. Azran joined Canyon in 2017 and is responsible for corporate safety and security, investigations, access control and all physical security systems and security program management across the firm. Mr. Azran is a current member of the International Association of Chief’s of Police and the FBI’s InfraGard; which is an organization serving as a public-private partnership between U.S. Businesses and the FBI. Mr. Azran is also a member of the U.S. State Department’s Overseas Security Advisory Council. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Azran spent 30 years with the Culver City Police Department where he served as a Police Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief of Police. Mr. Azran is a graduate of the University of Redlands (B.S., Business and Management).

Nicholas Baccile is a Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Baccile joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, structuring and executing debt and equity investments in the Northeast U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Baccile worked at RXR Realty, where he was responsible for asset management of equity and debt investments. Previously, Mr. Baccile worked at Ares Management, where he was responsible for underwriting, due diligence and ongoing asset management of new equity investments. Mr. Baccile is a graduate of Cornell University (B.S., Applied Economics and Management with a minor in Real Estate).

Jeffrey Barak is a Vice President within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Barak joined Canyon in 2019 and primarily focuses on asset management team support and business plan execution of equity and debt investments across Canyon’s real estate platforms. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Barak worked at LeoCor Capital, a Los Angeles-based family office, where he was responsible for originations, underwriting, and investment strategy. Mr. Barak is a graduate of Yeshiva University (M.S., Accounting) and UCLA Anderson School of Management (M.B.A., Finance).

Jonathan Barzideh is an Investment Partner at Canyon. Mr. Barzideh joined Canyon in 2007 and serves as the lead Portfolio Manager for Canyon’s ESG investment activities as well as a Co-Portfolio Manager for the Canyon Distressed Opportunity Fund IV. Additionally, Mr. Barzideh oversees a team that primarily focuses on investments in the energy, utilities, renewables, and chemical sectors as well as risk arbitrage investment opportunities. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Barzideh worked at Deutsche Bank, where he focused on event-driven, risk arbitrage, derivatives, and volatility strategies. Mr. Barzideh is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (B.S., Economics, Concentrations in Finance and Statistics, Minor in Mathematics, Honors). Mr. Barzideh is a CFA® charterholder.

Scott Borenstein is an Investment Partner at Canyon. Mr. Borenstein joined Canyon in 2010 and serves as a Co-Portfolio Manager for the Canyon Capital Solutions Fund. Additionally, Mr. Borenstein oversees a team that primarily focuses on investments in the media, telecom, transportation, metals and mining, and broader industrials sectors. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Borenstein worked at Oaktree Capital Management and at Spark Capital. Mr. Borenstein’s previous experience also includes Business Development at Overture Services and consulting for a variety of Fortune 500 companies at McKinsey & Company. Mr. Borenstein is a graduate of Princeton University (A.B., School of Public and International Affairs, Honors) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A., Baker Scholar).

William Boukalik is a Managing Director and Head of Asset Management within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Boukalik joined Canyon in 2011 and oversees the asset management and business plan execution of a portfolio of investments across property types as well as across both debt and equity. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Boukalik worked at The Connor Group, an owner and manager of multi-family properties, where he was responsible for debt execution, acquisition, and disposition activities of the firm. Previously, Mr. Boukalik was at DDR Corp where he was responsible for asset management and development/ redevelopment of retail investments throughout the U.S. Mr. Boukalik began his career at Ohio Savings Bank and Charter One Bank. Mr. Boukalik is a graduate of University of Richmond (B.A., Biology) and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (M.B.A.).

Chris Bryant is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Bryant joined Canyon in 2021 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Northwest and Midwest U.S. regions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Bryant worked at Baird, where he was responsible for the execution of M&A and private capital placements in the real estate sector. Mr. Bryant is a graduate of the University of Georgia (B.B.A., Economics).

Adam Bushell is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Bushell joined Canyon in March 2022 and primarily focuses on asset management team support and business plan execution of equity and debt investments across Canyon Partners’ real estate platforms. Prior to Canyon, Mr. Bushell worked at Welltower Inc. and Westwood Financial. He is a graduate of USC Marshall (B.S., Business Administration).

Natalie Catalan is a Vice President within the Business Development and Client Management team at Canyon. Ms. Catalan joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships in Europe, the Middle East and with US financial institutions. Ms. Catalan also serves as a product specialist, focusing on Canyon’s CLO strategy. Ms. Catalan is an executive member of the Board of Directors of Ready to Succeed, a nonprofit that empowers youth impacted by foster care to graduate college, launch successful careers, and reach their full potential. Ms. Catalan graduated from Wellesley College (B.A., Economics) and was cross-registered at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Jean Paul Cativiela is a Managing Director within the Risk Management and Analytics team at Canyon. Mr. Cativela joined Canyon in 2015 and primarily focuses on portfolio risk management and performance tracking and analysis. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Cativiela worked as a quantitative developer in Deutsche Bank’s emerging markets strategy group and as a research analyst at J.P. Morgan. Mr. Cativiela is a graduate of Occidental College (B.A., Literature and History) and New York University (M.F.A., Literature).

Stephen Cho is a Managing Director and Canyon’s General Counsel. Mr. Cho joined Canyon in 2022 and oversees all legal matters for Canyon. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Cho was the general counsel at Silver Point Capital and the general counsel and chief compliance officer at Reservoir Capital Group. Prior to such roles, Mr. Cho was a corporate transactional attorney in mergers & acquisitions, private equity, public and private credit and capital markets at Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Milbank, Tweed. Mr. Cho is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B., magna cum laude, History and Literature) and Columbia University School of Law (J.D., Kent Scholar). Mr. Cho is a member of the State Bar of New York.

Desmond Chum is a Managing Director within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Chum joined Canyon in 2017 and primarily focuses on public and private debt and equity special situations in Asia. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Chum worked at Claren Road Asset Management, a long short credit fund manager that was majority owned by The Carlyle Group. Previously, Mr. Chum was a Managing Director within Citigroup’s Asia Special Situations Group, where he oversaw proprietary investments for the fixed income division of the bank in the Greater China Region. Mr. Chum is a graduate of the University of Oxford (B.A., Oriental Studies).

Chris Courtney is a Director within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Courtney joined Canyon in 2002 and primarily focuses on operations for Canyon CLO Advisors and Canyon’s CLO platform. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Courtney worked at TDWaterhouse Securities, Inc. in their Institutional Services group. Previously, he was a Financial Analyst for Cardiff Software, Inc. Mr. Courtney is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.A., Economics).

Andrew Dadoun is a Vice President within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Dadoun joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on performing credit research on non-investment grade corporate borrowers. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Dadoun worked at Avenue Capital where he focused on investments in the performing credit space. Previously, he worked at Natixis’ Sponsors Coverage Group within the Corporate and Investment Banking Division. Mr. Dadoun is a graduate of Bentley University (B.A., Economics & Finance, cum laude).

Deidre DeCaro is a Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations at Canyon. Ms. DeCaro joined Canyon in 2018 and is responsible for client services across the firm’s global platforms. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Decaro held positions at Chalkstream Capital Group, L.P., Harbourton Enterprises, Vencast Securities, Goldman Sachs, and Chase Manhattan Bank. Ms. DeCaro is a graduate of St. Francis College (B.S., Business Management).

Anoop Dhakad is a Managing Director within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. Dhakad joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing relationships with Canyon’s investment consulting partners as well as other intermediaries. Most recently, he was a Managing Director at HPS Investment Partners, focusing on Consultant Relations. Previously, he was a Partner and Head of Global Client Relations at MKP Capital. Prior to MKP, he conducted hedge fund manager due diligence for over 10 years at J.P. Morgan, Lehman Brothers, and ING. Mr. Dhakad and his wife serve as Well Members for charity: water, a non-profit bringing clean drinking water to people in developing nations. He is the Chair of the Advisory Board for the McIntire School of Commerce that assists the Dean on matters pertaining to curriculum, student services, and alumni engagement. He is also a Member of the McIntire Marketing Advisory Council that assists the Marketing faculty on curriculum matters and helps students on career development.
Mr. Dhakad received a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia (1993), and is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Gerardo Diaz is a Vice President within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Diaz joined Canyon in 2017 and primarily focuses on origination, underwriting, structuring and executing debt and equity investments in the Southeast U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Diaz worked at Alloy Development, where he was responsible for financial analysis, market research, and design direction. Mr. Diaz is a graduate of Harvard University (M. Real Estate, concentration in finance and investment) and the Washington University in St. Louis (B.S., Architecture).

Martin Downen is a Managing Director and Co-Head of Canyon’s Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) business. Mr. Downen joined Canyon in 2014 and oversees a team that primarily focuses on Canyon’s CLO portfolios. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Downen worked at Highland Capital where he oversaw a portfolio of par and distressed high yield debt and equity investments across the chemicals, consumer products, gaming, media, retail, power, utility, and print and publishing industries. Previously, Mr. Downen held positions at Goldman Sachs and at J.P. Morgan Chase. Mr. Downen graduated from Brigham Young University (B.A. Economics) and the University of Michigan (M.B.A., Finance and Corporate Strategy).

Andrew Duran is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Duran joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on the acquisition and asset management of equity investments in the Canyon Catalyst Fund, a CalPERS separate account focused on the real estate emerging manager space. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Duran worked at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., where he was responsible for underwriting and structuring commercial real estate mortgages. Mr. Duran is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B.S., Finance with a minor in Real Estate).
Daniela Eden is a Senior Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Ms. Eden joined Canyon in 2012 and primary focuses on the asset management and business plan execution of a portfolio of investments across property types throughout the U.S. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Eden worked at BlackRock, where she was responsible for the asset management of multifamily, retail and office properties in various stages of development and investment cycles. Previously, Ms. Eden was at ASB Capital Management, where she focused on the underwriting and asset management of all property types across the country. Ms. Eden is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (B.A., Psychology) and Georgetown University (M.B.A.).

Emmanuel Ene is a Director at Canyon. Mr. Ene joined Canyon in 2021 and primarily focuses on European trades. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Ene worked at Deutsche Bank as a Salesperson within the Distressed Product Group. Mr. Ene began his career at Goldman Sachs in the High Yield and Distressed Sales and Trading business. Mr. Ene is a graduate of Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick (B.Sc., Management) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (M.Sc., Finance).

Alexey Ermilov is a Senior Vice President and Senior Programmer Analyst within the Business Technology team at Canyon. Mr. Ermilov joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on software development, risk reporting and analytic systems at Canyon, and he is a member of the Risk Analytics team. Mr. Ermilov is a graduate of Odesa National University, Ukraine (Master, Mathematics, Psychology), and the Harvard University Master of Liberal Arts program in Information Management Systems.
Jacob Feingold is a Managing Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Feingold joined Canyon in 2014 and primarily focuses on originating, structuring, and executing direct debt and equity real estate investments in the East Coast regions and secondary markets across the U.S. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Feingold worked at iStar Financial where he focused on structured real estate investments, development, and distressed opportunities. Mr. Feingold is a graduate of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (B.B.A., honors) and Columbia Business School (M.B.A., honors).

Sarah Fidler is a Managing Director and Head Debt Trader at Canyon. Ms. Fidler joined Canyon in 2013 and oversees trading activity in credit market investments across the firm. Prior to this role, Ms. Fidler was the trader for Canyon’s European investments for over seven years before relocating to the United States. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Fidler worked at Goldman Sachs in Distressed Trading in both their London and New York offices. Ms. Fidler began her career at UBS as an investment banker in the Restructuring Group before moving to Cambridge Capital Partners in the private equity group. Ms. Fidler is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A., Business Administration) and the University of Chicago (M.B.A).

Madyn Field is a Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Ms. Field joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships in the Northeast and Southeast U.S. regions. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Field held positions at RedBird Capital Partners, Apollo Global Management, and L.E.K. Consulting. Ms. Field is a graduate of Duke University (B.A., Public Policy).

Karyn Frazeur is Director of Trading Operations at Canyon. Ms. Frazuer joined Canyon in 2001 and primarily focuses on all trading operations and currency hedging at Canyon. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Frazeur worked at Prudential Securities. Mr. Frazeur started her career at M.L. Stern & Co in the municipal bond business. Ms. Frazeur is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal, PQ, (B.A., English Literature). Ms. Frazeur is a CAIA Charter Holder.

Josh Friedman is Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Canyon Partners, LLC. Mr. Friedman is a graduate of Harvard College (B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Physics), Oxford University (M.A., honors, Politics and Economics, Marshall Scholar), Harvard Business School (M.B.A., Baker Scholar) and Harvard Law School (J.D., Sears Prize, magna cum laude). Prior to forming Canyon, Mr. Friedman was Director of Capital Markets for High Yield and Private Placements at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Prior to working at Drexel, Mr. Friedman worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Goldman Sachs in New York.
In 2014, Mr. Friedman, along with Co-Founder Mitch Julis, received Institutional Investor’s “Lifetime Achievement” Award. Mr. Friedman is a member of the George W. Bush Presidential Center Executive Advisory Council. Additionally, Mr. Friedman serves on the boards and/or investment committees of a number of endowments and foundations including Harvard Management Company, Harvard Committee on University Resources, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, California Institute of Technology, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Broad Foundation, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Committee on Collections at the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA). Mr. Friedman previously served on the investment committee of the J. Paul Getty Trust and Board of the Dean’s Advisors for Harvard Business School, as well as the boards of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the UCLA Hospital Department of Neurosurgery, the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and the California Science Center.
Mr. Friedman and his wife, Beth, live in Dallas, Texas and have three sons. Mr. and Mrs. Friedman co-endowed the Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research at Harvard University and are 2019 recipients of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Kyle Furutani is a Director within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Furutani joined Canyon in 2006 and primarily focuses on operations for Canyon CLO Advisors and Canyon’s CLO platform. Prior to this role, Mr. Furutani was Head of Investor Relations and Client Operations and was a structured products analyst focusing on CLOs. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Furutani worked at KPMG LLP in their International and General Audit practices. Mr. Furutani is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Leventhal School of Accounting (B.S. Accounting & Accounting Information Systems). Mr. Furutani is a CFA® charterholder.

Gerald Goldman is a Managing Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Goldman joined Canyon in 2008 and primarily focuses on acquisitions, asset management, and business plan execution of equity investments in the Canyon Catalyst Fund, a CalPERS separate account focused on the real estate emerging manager space. Additionally, he coordinates the insurance risk management functions of CPRE. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Goldman worked at American Realty Advisors overseeing the asset and portfolio management of a diverse portfolio of core and value-added multi-family, office, industrial, and retail assets located nationally. Previously, he worked for The Archon Group, the real estate subsidiary of Goldman Sachs overseeing the operations, leasing and dispositions of a portfolio of office, retail and industrial assets. He began his career working for real estate developers and syndicators of multi-family assets. Mr. Goldman is a graduate of San Diego State University (B.S., Finance, cum laude). Mr. Goldman holds a California real estate brokers’ license and has earned the RPA designation from the BOMI Institute.

Bharadwaj Goteti is a Vice President and Senior Programmer Analyst within the Business Technology team at Canyon. Mr. Goteti joined Canyon in 2015 and primarily focuses on software development related to structured finance, including asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities and CDO’s, and is a member of the Risk Analytics team. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Goteti worked at JPMorgan Chase within the Fixed Income group, where he focused on asset-backed commercial paper. Mr. Goteti is a graduate of Andhra University (B.S., Electrical Engineering) and Texas A&M University (M.S., Electrical Engineering).

Kendall Grant is a Vice President within the Business Development and Client Relations team at Canyon. Ms. Grant joined Canyon in 2023 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships in the West and Midwest U.S. regions. Prior to Canyon, Ms. Grant held positions in business development and investor relations at Atalaya Capital Management and Apollo Global Management. She began her career at Bernstein Private Wealth Management, focused on international ultra-high-net-worth families. Ms. Grant graduated with Honors from Cornell University.
Chris Heine is an Investment Partner and Head of Equity and Derivatives Trading at Canyon. Mr. Heine joined Canyon in 2005 and oversees cross-asset and equity trading activity, including implementation of hedging activities. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Heine worked at Och-Ziff Capital Management Group as a Principal and Head Equity Trader. Mr. Heine was also in the Institutional Equity department at Toronto Dominion Securities (USA) and was a Registered Option Trader and market maker on the American Stock Exchange. Mr. Heine is a graduate of Union College (B.A., Managerial Economics).

Blake Hekmatpour is an Analyst within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Hekmatpour joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on the energy, utility, renewables, and chemical sectors as well as risk arbitrage investment opportunities. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Hekmatpour worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division. Mr. Hekmatpour is a graduate of NYU Stern School of Business (B.S., Business and M.S., Accounting).

Robert Herin is a Partner and Canyon’s Chief Information Officer. Mr. Herin joined Canyon in 2015 and oversees a team responsible for all aspects of information technology strategy and management, software applications, risk analytics, data management, and core information technology infrastructure and support. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Herin worked at Apollo Global Management as a Managing Director and Global Head of Technology. Previously, he held positions at the Baupost Group and Drake Management. Earlier in his career, he was Co-Head of the Aladdin Front-End Software Development team for BlackRock and Head of Software Development for PIMCO. Mr. Herin graduated from UCLA (B.S., Applied Mathematics), and UC Irvine (M.B.A.). Mr. Herin is a CFA® Charterholder, a Certified Financial Risk Manager, and currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Paul Merage School of Business at UCI.

Matthew Hickey is a Senior Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. Hickey joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships in the South and Mid-Atlantic U.S. regions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Hickey held positions at Leucadia Asset Management, Apollo Global Management, and Citadel LLC. Mr. Hickey began his career at Credit Suisse in investment banking focusing on global industrials. Mr. Hickey is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.S., Finance) and also spent time studying at Oxford University in the UK.

Tammy Ho is a Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Ms. Ho joined Canyon in 2011 and primarily focuses on investor reporting efforts across Canyon’s real estate platforms. Prior to this role, Ms. Ho was responsible for the asset management of a portfolio of debt and equity investments, with a concentration on hospitality assets. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Ho worked at Hilton Worldwide within the Feasibility and Investment Analysis department, where she was responsible for underwriting and managing existing and new hotel development projects. Previously, Ms. Ho worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co in the Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking group. Ms. Ho is a graduate of Cornell University (B.S., Hotel Management with a Finance Concentration).

Brandon Hsu is a Vice President within the Business Development and Client Relations team at Canyon. Mr. Hsu joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on Canyon’s multi-strategy credit and distressed funds as a product specialist. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Hsu was at Avenue Capital Group where he focused on business development and capital raising. Prior to joining Avenue, Mr. Hsu held positions at Bardin Hill Investment Partners and Blackstone. Mr. Hsu is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.S.B.A., in Finance).

Michael Hubbard is a Managing Director and Head of Human Capital and Corporate Services at Canyon. Max Jansen is an Assistant Vice President within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Jansen joined Canyon in 2019 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring and executing debt and equity investments in the Southwest U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Jansen worked at PCCP, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment manager, where he was responsible underwriting and due diligence of debt and equity investments. Mr. Jansen is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A., Business Economics).

Grant Johnson is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Johnson joined Canyon in 2022 and primary focuses on the asset management and business plan execution of a portfolio of investments across property types throughout the U.S and for originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Southwest U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Johnson worked for the Strategy, Investments and M&A team at Cushman and Wakefield where he was responsible for analyzing and underwriting potential M&A transactions and strategic investments for the firm. Mr. Johnson has also previously held positions at J.P. Morgan within the Investment Bank. Mr. Johnson is a graduate of The University of Dayton (B.S., Finance).

Ronald Muzii is a Managing Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Muzii joined Canyon in 2012 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Southeast U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Muzii worked at various finance and real estate investment firms, facilitating the acquisition, financing, and development of real estate in various sectors including multifamily, retail, hospitality, office, and industrial. Mr. Muzii is a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (B.A., Science).
Mitch Julis is Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Canyon Partners, LLC. Mr. Julis is a graduate of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), Harvard Law School (J.D., magna cum laude) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A., honors). He received an honorary doctorate from Yeshiva University of New York in 2011. Prior to forming Canyon, Mr. Julis directed a group of professionals responsible for a portfolio of distressed and special situation securities at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Prior to working at Drexel, he was a bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York.
In 2014, Mr. Julis, along with Co-Founder Josh Friedman, received Institutional Investor’s “Lifetime Achievement” Award. Mr. Julis serves as a Trustee of the Brown University Corporation, on the Board of Governors at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University, on the Board of Trustees at Yeshiva University and as Trustee Emeritus at the Asia Society. Mr. Julis previously served on the Board of Trustees at Princeton University. He is currently a member of the Advisory Council for the Julis-Rabinowitz Center for Public Policy and Finance at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and a member of Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science Leadership Council. Furthermore, he sits on the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute Advisory Council and the Lincoln Center Theater Board. Also noteworthy is his active role in establishing the Harvard Law School Program on Jewish and Israeli Law. In 2019, Mr. Julis received an Honorary Fellowship from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Mr. Julis and his wife, Joleen, live in Dallas, Texas and have four children.

Jonathan Kaplan is a Partner and Canyon’s Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Kaplan joined Canyon in 2007 and oversees all non-investment business activities for Canyon. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Kaplan was a partner at Sidley Austin LLP, practicing there from 1997-2007 as a corporate transactional attorney, representing primarily investment funds, including Canyon and a number of other investment advisors. Mr. Kaplan is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego (B.A., Political Science) and New York University School of Law (J.D.). Mr. Kaplan is a member of the State Bar of California.

Edward Kim is a Managing Director within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Kim joined Canyon in 2007 and primarily focuses on distressed bonds, bank debt, and equities in the gaming, lodging, and packaging sectors. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Kim worked at Capital Research in the Operational Risk department. Mr. Kim is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A., Business-Economics & English Literature) and the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management (M.B.A, Honors). Sonya Seoyun Kim is a Senior Vice President within the Investment team at Canyon. Ms. Kim joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on public and private debt and equity special situations in Asia. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Kim worked at Auroville Investment Management, where she focused on equity investments across the gaming, hardware, technology, and telecom industries in Asia Pacific. Previously, Ms. Kim worked at York Capital in Hong Kong, and MBK Partners investing in private equities. Ms. Kim began her career as an Investment Banker at Goldman Sachs in South Korea. Ms. Kim is a graduate of Seoul National University (B.A., Economics) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A).

Jeffrey Kivitz is an Investment Partner at Canyon. Mr. Kivitz joined Canyon in 2008 and serves as a Co-Portfolio Manager for the Canyon Capital Solutions Fund and the Canyon Evergreen Private Credit Fund. Additionally, Mr. Kivitz oversees a team that focuses on investments in the financials, technology, software, building product and retail sectors. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Kivitz worked at Bain & Company as a consultant in both the private equity and general consulting practices, where he acted as an advisor on buyout and corporate strategy. Mr. Kivitz is a graduate of Williams College (B.A., Economics, cum laude).

Randy Ko is a Managing Director and Canyon’s Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Mr. Ko joined Canyon in 2012 and focuses on Canyon’s integration of ESG into the investment process across all of Canyon’s funds and develops the firm-wide framework for ESG analysis, engagement, reporting, and technology. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Ko worked at SAC Capital Advisors as a Credit Investor and UBS Principal Finance with a focus on distressed and special situations in autos, financials, hybrid capital securities, structured credit, and utilities. Mr. Ko is a graduate of Haverford College (B.A., History).

Kevin Kuhner is a Senior Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. Kuhner joined Canyon in 2017 and is primarily focuses on Canyon’s US financial institutional relationships and is the product specialist for Canyon’s long only fixed income credit solutions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Kuhner worked at Voya Investments as an institutional account manager. Previously, he worked at PIMCO in their Newport Beach and London offices, focusing on global institutional and wealth management channels. Mr. Kuhner received his undergraduate (B.A. Economics) and graduate degree (M.B.A.) from Arizona State University. Mr. Kuhner is a CFA® charterholder.

Todd Lemkin is an Investment Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Canyon Capital Advisors. Mr. Lemkin joined Canyon in 2003 and is responsible for the efforts of CCA’s portfolio team to develop, analyze, and implement investment ideas across the firm’s global platform. Mr. Lemkin has extensive investment expertise across the cable, media, telecom, satellite, industrials, real estate, gaming, and packaging sectors. Prior to this role, Mr. Lemkin focused on Canyon’s European investment effort and the firm’s London office. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Lemkin worked at Scoggin Capital Management, where he focused on analyzing securities of distressed and bankrupt companies. Mr. Lemkin was also an Investment Banker in the Healthcare Group of Banc of America Securities and the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Lehman Brothers. Mr. Lemkin is a member of the Board of Governors of Cedar Sinai Hospital as well as a Director of Atlas Crest Investment Corp. (“ACII”). Mr. Lemkin is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (B.A., English).

Albert Li is an Assistant Vice President within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Li joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Southeast U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Li worked at AllianceBernstein within the real estate debt investments team. Previously, Mr. Li has also held positions at Hines and Starlight Investments. Mr. Li is a graduate of University of Waterloo (B.Math) and Columbia Business School (M.B.A.).

Jeffrey Li is a Managing Director within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Li joined Canyon in 2013 and primarily focuses on investments in European credit and special situations. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Li worked at Macquarie in the Principal Finance team and at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division in London. Maximilian Lichtenheld is a Senior Vice President within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Lichtenheld joined Canyon in 2017 and primarily focuses on LBO financings/direct lending, growth financings, and special situations in Europe. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Lichtenheld worked at Bain Capital Credit and Credit Suisse. Mr. Lichtenheld is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science (B.Sc., Accounting & Finance, first class Honors).

Frank Liu is a Managing Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Liu joined Canyon in 2011 and oversees a team that primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Northwest and Midwest U.S. regions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Liu worked for the real estate investment arm of a family office based in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for the group’s capital markets activities. Mr. Liu has also previously held positions at Lowe Enterprises and JBG SMITH (formerly The JBG Companies). Mr. Liu is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.A., Economics and Government) and The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (M.B.A.).

Sheriden Mansfeld is Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer within the real estate Accounting and Operations team at Canyon. Ms. Mansfeld joined Canyon in 2006 and directly oversees operations, accounting and financial reporting for Canyon’s real estate platform. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Mansfeld was a Finance Manager for Multiplex Capital and an auditor with Deloitte & Touche LLP and Arthur Andersen LLP. Ms. Mansfeld is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.S., Accounting) and California State University, Northridge (M.B.A.) and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Mark McKee is a Senior Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. McKee joined Canyon in 2023 as a product specialist. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. McKee held positions at Oaktree Capital Management, Wellington Management Company, and Fidelity Investments. Mr. McKee is a graduate of Stonehill College (B.S., Finance) and is a CFA® charterholder.
Rohan Mehrotra is an Associate within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Mehrotra joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on equity, high yield, and distressed investment opportunities in the technology, retail, and building products sectors. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Mehrotra worked at Apollo Global Management, where he focused on credit and equity investing across auto, aerospace, packaging, and general industrial issuers. Mr. Mehrotra is a graduate of Duke University (B.S., Economics).

Eric Migicovsky is a Vice President within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Migicovsky joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Northwest and Midwest U.S regions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Migicovsky worked at Madison Realty Capital, a real estate private equity firm where he was responsible for originating and underwriting debt investments. Mr. Migicovsky has also previously held positions at ACORE Capital, Eastdil Secured, and Beal Bank. Mr. Migicovsky is a graduate of Boston University (B.S., Business Administration) and of the UCLA Anderson School of Management (M.B.A.).

Irina Mihalachii is an Associate within the Business Development and Client Relations team at Canyon. Ms. Mihalachii joined Canyon in 2020 and focuses on supporting Canyon’s business development and capital raising efforts across the US. Ms. Mihalachii is a graduate of Columbia University (B.A., Economics).

Erik Miller is an Investment Partner and Co-Head of Canyon’s Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) business. Mr. Miller joined Canyon in 2008 and primarily oversees portfolio management of Canyon’s CLO business and oversees Canyon’s European and Asian investment efforts. Prior to this role, Mr. Miller focused on global distressed, high yield, and equity investments in the traditional media sector. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Miller worked as an investor at the Capital Group Companies, a Los Angeles-based asset management firm, and Francisco Partners, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. Mr. Miller began his career at Morgan Stanley in the Technology Investment Banking group. Mr. Miller is a graduate of Stanford University (B.S., Computer Science) and the Wharton School (M.B.A).

Will Mirshak is a Managing Director on the Strategy team at Canyon. Prior to joining Canyon in 2022, Mr. Mirshak worked at UTIMCO where he was a Senior Director on the Private Equity team and led the Private Credit and Private Equity Co-Investment portfolios. Prior to joining UTIMCO, Mr. Mirshak worked at Mesirow where he led a hedge fund portfolio of multi-strategy and event-driven hedge funds. Mr. Mirshak began his career in investment banking, primarily focused on financial restructuring and industry coverage of the technology, media and telecom and gaming and lodging sectors. Mr. Mirshak is a graduate of the University of Richmond (B.S., Economics) and received a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
Chip Moloney is a Senior Associate within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Moloney joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on performing credit research on non-investment grade corporate borrowers. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Moloney worked at Q Investments, where he focused on leveraged loans, high yield credit, and reorg equity investments. Previously, he worked as an analyst covering the energy industry at Saltstone Capital Management and an analyst withing Stephens Investment Banking Division. Matt Mullarkey is a Managing Director within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. Mullarkey joined Canyon in 2021 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships with U.S. public pensions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Mullarkey worked at Aksia LLC where he was Co-Head of Advisory Americas. Previously, Mr. Mullarkey was an Investment Officer at New York State Common Retirement Fund. Lena Najarian Kaderali is the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer of Canyon Partners Real Estate. Ms. Najarian Kaderali joined Canyon in 2004 and is responsible for the compliance monitoring program and oversight of Canyon’s real estate activities. Ms. Najarian Kaderali is a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College (B.A., Business) and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (M.S., Library and Information Sciences).

Tomoya Nishikawa is a Partner within the Client Relations and Business Development team, as well as Head of Canyon’s Japan office. Mr. Nishikawa joined Canyon in 2014 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships in Japan. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Nishikawa worked at Goldman Sachs in ther Fixed Income group. Mr. Nishikawa is a graduate of Waseda University.

Keisuke Nishiyama is a Senior Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Mr. Nishiyama joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing relationships with institutional investors in Japan. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Nishiyama worked at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust & Banking Corporation where he served as the Product Manager covering equity, fixed income, and alternative funds for Japanese pension funds. Scott Nord is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Nord joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on closing debt and equity investments across all U.S. regions. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Nord worked within the real estate investments team at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), one of the world’s largest public REITs. Previously, Mr. Nord has also held positions at Conversion Properties and Modern Spaces. James Oliver is a Director of Corporate Accounting within the Accounting and Operations team at Canyon. Mr. Oliver joined Canyon in 2008 and is primarily focuses on the accounting, operations and reporting of Canyon’s investment vehicles. Kevin Park is a Managing Director within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Tzveta Petrov is a Senior Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Ms. Petrov joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on the optimization of the team’s fundraising operations, as well as the design, launch, and management of Canyon’s suite of products. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Petrov worked at Aksia LLC where she was a Senior Advisory Specialist, managing the firm’s marketing operations as well as firm-wide strategic initiatives. Joe Pfeiffer is a Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Pfeiffer joined Canyon in 2017 and primarily focuses on acquisitions, asset management, and business plan execution of equity investments in the Canyon Catalyst Fund, a CalPERS separate account focused on the real estate emerging manager space. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Pfeiffer worked at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, where he was responsible for repositioning and managing underperforming real estate investments owned by the City of New York. Additionally, Mr. Pfeiffer has held positions at L+M Development Partners and PCCP, LLC. Mr. Pfeiffer is a graduate of Lehigh University (B.S., Finance with a minor in French Modern Languages and Literature) and the UCLA Anderson School of Management (M.B.A., Real Estate).

Robin Potts is a Partner and Chief Investment Officer for CPRE. Ms. Potts has been with Canyon Partners since 2006, and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Canyon Partners’ real estate platforms and holds a seat on all Canyon Partners real estate investment committees. During her tenure at Canyon Partners, Ms. Potts has facilitated the acquisition, financing and development of over $17.5 billion of commercial real estate transactions across all asset classes including multifamily, condominium, office, retail, hospitality, industrial, senior housing, student housing, self-storage and mixed-use. Ms. Potts previously worked in the Financial Institutions Group of Credit Suisse in Los Angeles where she focused on equity, debt and M&A transactions in the mortgage real estate investment trust sector. Ms. Potts is a graduate of Harvard University, where she earned a B.A. degree in Economics.

Matt Prinn is a Managing Director and Head of Fund Accounting & Operations at Canyon. Mr. Prinn joined Canyon in 2004 and primarily focuses on the accounting, operations and reporting of Canyon’s investment vehicles. Mr. Prinn is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine (B.A., Economics).

Kevin Rajput is a Vice President within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Rajput joined Canyon in 2019 and primarily focuses on performing credit research on non-investment grade corporate borrowers. Prior to Canyon, Mr. Rajput worked at THL Credit where he focused on middle market credit investments. Previously, he worked at Bank of America’s Leveraged Finance Group within the Investment Banking Division. Mr. Rajput is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.S., Finance).

Sam Reid is an Investment Partner at Canyon. Mr. Reid joined Canyon in 2008 and is a Portfolio Manager for River Canyon funds. Prior to this role, Mr. Reid was Head Debt Trader for Canyon’s investments across the firm’s global platform. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Reid worked at JPMorgan Chase as a sell-side High Yield Credit trader, where he traded CDS and high yield bonds in both a market making and proprietary trading capacity. John Richards is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Richards joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on the acquisition and asset management of equity investments in the Canyon Catalyst Fund, a CalPERS separate account focused on the real estate emerging manager space. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Richards worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Aaron Rizkalla is a Senior Vice President within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Rizkalla joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on the media, telecom, and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Rizkalla worked at the U.S. Supreme Court as a law clerk. Adam Rizkalla is a Senior Vice President within the Investment team at Canyon. Matt Rodman is a Senior Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Rodman joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on the asset management and business plan execution of equity and debt investments across Canyon’s real estate platforms. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Rodman worked at Broadshore Capital Partners (formerly Lowe Enterprises Investors) and was responsible for asset and portfolio management for the firm’s separate accounts and joint ventures. Previously, Mr. Rodman held positions at Kimco Realty and Morgan Stanley. Mr. Rodman is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder (B.S., Business and Administration; emphasis in Finance).

Alex Roy is a Director within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Roy joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on CLO investments in Europe. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Roy worked as an analyst and junior portfolio manager at CVC Credit. Previously, Mr. Roy worked in the European High Yield team at abrdn, covering a range of industries. Mr. Roy is a graduate of the University of Nottingham (B.Sc., Economics, 2.1) and holds a M.Sc. in Management from Warwick Business School.
Sal Salehi is a Senior Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Salehi joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Northeast U.S region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Salehi worked within Bank OZK’s Real Estate Specialties Group where he was responsible for originating and underwriting structured debt investments. Mr. Salehi previously held positions at Fortress Investment Group, Thorofare Capital, and Goldman Sachs. Mr. Salehi is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University (BAs, Mathematics and Political Science).

Luke Schaefer is a Senior Associate within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Schaefer joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on performing credit research on non-investment grade corporate borrowers. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Schaefer worked at Barrow Hanley Global Investors where he focused on investments in non-investment grade corporate borrowers. Previously, he invested across capital structures at Carlson Capital and Kynikos Associates. Mr. Schaefer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison (M.S. and B.B.A., Finance).
Spencer Schlee is a Managing Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Schlee joined Canyon in 2012 and primarily focuses on originating, underwriting, structuring, and executing debt and equity investments in the Southwest U.S. region. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Schlee worked at BlackRock. Mr. Schlee is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A., Business Economics). Mr. Schlee is also an Associate Board Member for the UCLA Department of Economics.

Kevin Scholz is a Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Scholz joined Canyon in 2009 and primarily focuses on the asset management and business plan execution of equity and debt investments across Canyon’s real estate platforms. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Scholz worked at Ernst & Young LLP as a Senior Auditor in the Asset Management division of the Financial Services Office. Prior to Ernst & Young, Mr. Scholz was a Research Specialist Intern for the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Scholz is a graduate of Iona College (B.B.A., Accounting, summa cum laude) and the University of Miami (M.B.A., Finance and International Business). Mr. Scholz is a CFA® charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Katie Schrenk is a Vice President, Corporate Affairs within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Ms. Schrenk joined Canyon in 2010 and primarily focuses on corporate strategy initiatives and oversees operational due diligence for the firm. Ms. Schrenk is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University (B.A., International Business).

Chaney Sheffield is an Investment Partner at Canyon. Mr. Sheffield joined Canyon in 2008 and serves as a Co-Portfolio Manager for the Canyon Distressed Opportunity Fund IV. Additionally, he oversees the investment team that focuses on the packaging, leisure, lodging, gaming, and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Sheffield worked at Morgan Stanley, first as an investment banker and then as an investor in distressed and special situation securities across the capital structure. Mr. Sheffield graduated from Harvard University (B.A., Economics).

Luis Silva is a Partner and Canyon’s Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Silva supervises all accounting and operations at Canyon. Prior to joining Canyon in 2004, Mr. Silva worked at Brencourt Advisors LLC, a hedge fund advisor overlooking all accounting, operations, compliance and tax matters. Before joining Brencourt Advisors, Mr. Silva worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the alternative asset and the regulated investment companies audit group. Mr. Silva is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.S., Accounting) and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Stacy Silverman is a Partner and the Head of Client Relations and Business Development at Canyon. Ms. Silverman joined Canyon in 2011 and oversees capital formation efforts for Canyon. Prior to this role, Ms. Silverman oversaw product development and previously spent several years managing relationships with Canyon’s institutional investors across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Silverman began her career in investment banking, primarily focused on the media and retail sectors. Ms. Silverman is a graduate of Brown University (B.A., honors).

Riley Simas is an Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Simas joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on asset management team support and business plan execution of equity and debt investments across Canyon’s real estate platforms. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Simas worked at TruAmerica Multifamily within the portfolio management department, where he was responsible for executing value-add multifamily strategies across TruAmerica’s national workforce housing portfolio. Previously, Mr. Simas held a position at CBRE. Mr. Simas is a graduate of The University of Southern California (B.S., Business Administration) and of the UCLA Anderson School of Management (M.B.A., Finance).

Justin Smith is a Managing Director and Canyon’s Treasurer. Mr. Smith joined Canyon in 2003 and primarily focuses on managing portfolio finance and liquidity. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Smith worked at Carlson Capital, where he developed and managed portfolio finance. Previously, Mr. Smith worked at Merrill Lynch International. Mr. Smith is a graduate of University of Wales (B.A., Politics) and has diplomas in Law and Legal Practice from the University of the West of England.

Natesa Soares is a Vice President within the Risk Management and Analytics team at Canyon. Ms. Soares joined Canyon in 2018 and primarily focuses on portfolio reporting efforts across Canyon’s capital solutions strategy. Prior to this role, Ms. Soares was a product specialist in the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Soares worked at Belkin International. Ms. Soares is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.S., Economics and Mathematics, Minor in Business Law, summa cum laude).

Kristen Soh is an Associate within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Ms. Soh joined Canyon in 2020 and primarily focuses on supporting Canyon’s global business development efforts, with a particular focus on investor relationships in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Ms. Soh is a graduate of Dartmouth College (B.A., Economics and Psychology).

Jian Sun is a Senior Vice President and Quantitative Analyst within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Sun joined Canyon in 2023 and primarily focuses on predictive modeling and quantitative analytics analysis. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Sun worked as quantitative modeler/data scientists in Western Asset’s Quantitative Investment Solutions group, head/senior quantitative analyst in Pamli Capital and as quantitative strategist of structured credit/credit derivative at J.P. Morgan. Mr. Sun is a graduate (M.E., Financial Engineering) of Cornell University and Tianjin University (B.S, Electrical Engineering).
Ritsuko Tanimoto is a Vice President within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Ms Tanimoto primarily focuses on supporting the marketing efforts in the Tokyo office. Prior to joining Canyon in 2017, and 2023 for the second time, Ms. Tanimoto worked at Rockpoint Group in Tokyo, a US-based real estate private equity fund, where she assisted with the acquisition and asset management of real estate assets in Japan.
Rob Teahen is a Managing Director within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Teahen joined Canyon in 2013 and primarily focuses on equity, high yield, and distressed investment opportunities in the energy sector. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Teahen worked at Citigroup, where he focused on energy investment research, and in the Investment Banking division of Credit Suisse in London. Mr. Teahen is a graduate of the University of Iowa (B.B.A., highest distinction and honors) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (M.B.A.).

Katie Wang is a Senior Associate within the Investment team at Canyon. Ms. Wang joined Canyon in 2022 and primarily focuses on equity, high yield, and distressed investment opportunities in the industrials sector. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Wang worked at GIC Private Equity in the Special Opportunities group. Ms. Wang is a graduate of Columbia University (B.A., Economics-Philosophy).

Annalise Wang is an Analyst within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Investment team at Canyon. Ms. Wang joined Canyon in 2023 and primarily focuses on performing credit research on non-investment grade corporate borrowers. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Wang worked in the Enterprise Risk Management division at Goldman Sachs, where she focused on risk appetite, business planning and firmwide stress testing. Ms. Wang is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (B.Sc., Engineering).
Kyle Wilhelm is a Vice President and Trader at Canyon. Mr. Wilhelm joined Canyon in 2015 and primarily focuses on par loan trading. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Wilhelm worked at Ares Management across various equity, fixed income, and derivative products. Mr. Wilhelm began his career at Morgan Stanley in risk management before moving to a settlements project role at Barclays Capital. Mr. Wilhelm is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S., Finance).

Mark Williams is a Managing Director within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Williams joined Canyon in 2009 and primarily focuses on the asset management and business plan execution of a portfolio of investments across property types throughout the U.S. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Williams worked at GE Real Estate/GE Capital Real Estate where he held positions in both the Asset Management and Leveraged Equity Investing platforms. Previously, he was at Grubb & Ellis where he specialized in Retail Leasing, Sales, and Tenant Representation. Mr. Williams started his career working in the real estate group for a series of investment trusts focused on purchasing and repositioning distressed debt and equity assets. Mr. Williams is a graduate of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin (B.B.A., Finance), the University of North Texas (B.B.A., Real Estate) and Texas A&M University (M.S., Land Development).

Tatsiana Yasedchyk is a Senior Associate within the Real Estate Investment team at Canyon. Mrs. Yasedchyk joined Canyon in 2017 and primarily focuses on reporting and the asset management of equity investments across the real estate emerging manager program and the implementation of ESG initiatives across all real estate platforms. Prior to joining Canyon, Mrs. Yasedchyk worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Alternative Investment Assurance group, supervising and performing audits of various asset management clients. Mrs. Yasedchyk is a graduate of the Zicklin School of Business (B.B.A., Accounting) and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Wai Yip is a Managing Director within the Investment team at Canyon. Mr. Yip joined Canyon in 2017 and primarily focuses on public and private debt and equity special situations in Asia. Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Yip worked at Goldman Sachs in the Securities Division, running Asia Credit Distribution and Tactical Opportunities. Previously, Mr. Yip was at Deutsche Bank New York and the Bank of Nova Scotia. Mr. Yip is a Graduate of the University of Waterloo (B.A., Economics).

David Young is the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at Canyon. Mr. Young joined Canyon in 2010 and is responsible for overseeing the firm’s compliance surveillance and testing program as well as providing compliance support for investment and trading activities. Mr. Young is a graduate of the University Of Southern California (B.S., Business Administration) and the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business (M.B.A., Business Administration).

Roslyn Zhang is a Managing Director within the Client Relations and Business Development team at Canyon. Ms. Zhang joined Canyon in 2020 and primarily focuses on maintaining and developing investor relationships in the APAC region, with a primary focus on China. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Zhang worked at China Investment Corporation where she was Managing Director and the Head of Hedge Fund Investments for the firm. Previously, Ms. Zhang held positions at a New York-based Fund of Hedge Funds and two endowment funds in both U.S and Canada. Ms. Zhang began her career at Manulife Financial in the firm’s Investment Division. Ms. Zhang is a graduate of McGill University (M.B.A.), and from the Central University of Finance and Economy in China (B.A., Economics). In 2013, Ms. Zhang was named “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds” by Hedge Fund Journal.
